SAT score recipients

My 11th gd daughter will be taking SAT for first time- on saturday.

She has taken PSAT once- and a practice SAT- she doesn't do well on this type of test- at least it doesn't seem to be at same level of the work she does in class. ( she has LDs- dyslexia- she has some accomdations on test, but probably not all the ones that would help her)

So- right now she isn't having the scores sent to any schools.
She does have some schools in mind- but she will also probably take the SAT again in the fall and the ACT as well.

Should she add schools to her notification list, or should we wait to see how she does? She will probably get about a 1500 or so, on the SAT, lowest in math, highest in critical reading.

I would wait to see how she does. If she does better on the fall ACT you won't need to sen the SAT scores (unless she needs SAT 2's)

Unless you think she might ultimately switch to the ACT, the colleges will see whatever SAT scores are part of her testing history at the time you send them. In other words, sending the October scores will also trigger sending the June scores. At least that's how I read this from www.collegeboard.com:

"We send a cumulative report of all scores that are available and reportable at the time your request is received. You cannot send only your latest or highest SAT scores, or separate scores for critical reading, mathematics, or writing sections, or only SAT, or only Subject Test scores."

If she feels like she really blew it, you could always cancel the result before the test is graded. I didn't look up the deadline for that, but I know kids who have done it.

That is true, I think she has a week or so to make changes to that list, so you can wait till after the test, see how she feels she's done, and go from there...
We sent the scores automatically to the safeties, but waited with the top choices...

Hey, EK - my junior D is taking the SATs on Saturday for the first time, too! However, she already took the ACT in March and did well (by our standards, maybe not by CC standards - she scored a 30.)

She is not having the scores sent anywhere yet. Our game plan is to see how the test goes on Saturday, and then she can decide IF she wants to retake either the SAT or the ACT in the fall. (That 30 is probably fine for the schools she's most interested in, but there are scholarships to think about...) I know that if she decides to retake and then send the SAT, the colleges will see both scores, but that's okay.

Interestingly, in prepping for the SATs (the Xiggi method), she claims the SAT seems "easier" to her because the math doesn't seem as hard. We shall see......

SAT math is easier, but ACT questions are more straight-forward.
So ACT math requires more knowledge, but SAT requires more test-taking skills.
