My son is submitting his application to Virginia Tech tonight for the early decision application. When he went to the CB website, he saw there were two options for delivery of SAT scores. Since the deadline is November 1 - one week away - should he do rush order or regular?
Just regular, unless VT says otherwise. Many schools actually say on their websites NOT to use the “rush” order for test score reports, as it delays their receipt of the scores. Or it may just be an inconvenience to them to get them that way. They get the scores downloaded in batches from the College Board, and that’s how they prefer to deal with them.
It generally doesn’t matter if your scores arrive after the deadline, as long as you have your application submitted on time.
I think you need to send them rush if the deadline is NOV 1 as CB still hasn’t sent scores from 10/18…
I spoke to an admissions officer and she said that RUSH delivery is sent the exact same way electronically as regular delivery (the college has no idea which way you sent it) its just that CB will upload it into the computer after 2 days time compared to up to 14days time regular delivery. Right now CB is taking an ave 2 weeks to send when usually they only take a few days. She said the colleges get the electronic files in batches on the college’s predetermined schedule (some once a day, some once an hour) once the files are delivered then a software program matches the applicant with the rest of their application, if there is no file for you, a file is created.
It used to be several years ago that rush was sent differently but now it is not, its just CB moves your name to the top of the pile to input. BTW, you can call CB and get rush put on your score that you requested regular delivery for $31. It doesn’t matter that you originally requested reg delivery
I received an email today from CB telling me that the scores we ordered Oct 20 have not been sent, and we are trying to meet a Nov 1 deadline. How is this acceptable? They charge $11.00 to send them ELECTRONICALLY and they can’t get them there in 12 days? Really? Disappointing to put it nicely.
My daughter a similar email and our order placed over a week ago says pending. She checked her portals and two schools say they have recieved them and two say they haven’t. I am goingbto assume they just have not matched them up yet.
