Submitting SAT scores right now with Rush Delivery!!! URGENT... Will they have enough time?

Wills these scores get to my colleges by Jan 1 if I am just submitting them now with rushed delivery? I honestly did not realize that they had to arrive at the admissions office in time, just thought I had to send them by that deadline.

Can anyone help me? Will they arrive in time?

Please… anyone?? I really need help!

You don’t need to rush them. In fact, some institutions tell you NOT to rush them. It’s ok if they come in a little late.

@anxiousenior1 Thanks! I thought Stanford required that they arrive by the deadline?

From their website… “Similarly, please allow sufficient time for official scores to arrive by the application deadlines. We cannot delay the review of an application in anticipation of scores that will arrive after the deadline nor can we guarantee that late scores will be reviewed.”

Regardless though, will these scores have enough time to get there by the deadline? Anyone else end up in this position?

Anyone?

The College Board guarantees that the scores are sent within 2 business days. I think you will be fine

@GhostKoi :

No need to worry. Most schools even allow you to take the January SAT as the last test, and the scores still get there in time. Make sure you send your scores before the deadline. If for some reason your scores get lost or they don’t receive it, you will at least have proof that you sent it in time.

Is this an addition to CB’s usual wording re: Rush orders? We ask that you order additional score reports using only the regular score reporting service at this time. Please do not send scores for rush delivery, as processing times vary and delivery times cannot be guaranteed.

OP can contact the college(s) and see their preferences. The reality is RD will take plenty of time to get through. Stanford also says there’s a notification of missing documents date in mid-Feb. Do what you can. You won’t be the only one. You self-reported your scores, right? They’ll take a first look at your app and if it’s strong enough to get through first cut, take a quick look when scores come in.

@lookingforward So I just wasted $30? What can I do now? Why would they let me check Rushed Delivery without notifying me of this first?

I honestly don’t know whether they are processing rushes, which is why I asked about the wording. The way I see this sort of crisis is you deal with it the best you can. Ime, I’ve seen apps without official scores and the college does what I said: take the initial look, make the first cut decisions, continue with additional reads, then wait for the official report (which I assume will come in January. Ime, final decisions aren’t made until much later, sometimes into mid-March; it depends on area schedules.) Presumably you honestly self-reported, which is a start. Maybe your GC can confirm those scores?

Each school has different policy on receiving material beyond deadline. Some schools are more strict than others and have to receive by deadline. Most schools would allow a grace period of 1-2 weeks. Some schools do not accept rush score report, particularly if by mail. Note that Fedex, UPS, etc cannot be delivered to a USPO mail box which many schools use for receiving application.
