SAT scores can make up for grades?

Can a 2360 on the SAT (CR-800, M-760, W-800) make up for some mediocre grades? I had three Bs one semester junior year with four AP classes and an honors class. Will this kill my chances? I'm still ranked in the top 3%...

It's tough for everyone at HYPS. They reject many of those w/ perfect scores/valedictorian. Helps if you have a hook, for grades and scores are often not enough.

I don't think that SATs/grades make a huge difference at all as long as you're above the basic cutoff points (say 2200+ SAT, 3.8+ GPA). It seems as though strength of schedule is the most important thing academically.
