I got my 3rd SAT scores back yesterday, getting a 2240. I jumped from a 660 in math to a 730, and went down a tiny bit in writing and reading, but my superscore was brought up to a 2320 (CR 800, Math 730, WR 790). Unfortunately, my GPA is only a 3.58. I did have a trend of 3.36 freshman year to 3.56 sophomore year to 3.85 Junior year and a 3.95 first quarter of senior year, but I feel like for the schools im applying to (Holy Cross, USC, Trinity, Colgate, BC) They might see my extremely high SAT next to my low GPA and it might offer no advantage because It could be read as me being a good test taker but lazy student. Any insight to wether it is an advantage or not would be great.
I personally don’t think your grades are low enough to draw that conclusion Anyway, you can’t control what they want to think can you? Plenty of schools in that range like high scores, it helps their stats. Congrats on your efforts, looks like the retake really paid off.
You are fine. To me your profile reads that you are a student that has matured and improved through the years. Your GPA is not low (except maybe if you read too many CC posts) and the high SAT will only help your application.
To me your stats suggest high potential student with an upward trend in grades - something I would think most colleges like to see. Your GPA is not that big a deal - it’s fine.
