Hi. I recently figured out that my unweighted cumulative GPA when I’m applying for college will be a 3.4. Both my freshmen and junior year I received a 3.75 but I got really sick my sophomore year and missed 31 days of school which caused my grades to drop. My guidance counselor told me she would point this out in my letter of recommendation but I’m worried that it will hurt me a lot. The school I really want to get into is Fordham. I take lots of AP’s and I’m involved different extra curriculars. I also volunteer often and have a 1950 SAT score.I just wanted more opinions on whether or not this will keep me from getting into Fordham or similar colleges. Thanks.
You are doing the right thing to have your GC address it. Strong grades thi semester and next fall are important. Can you study and take another shot at testing? I know the SAT has changed, try the ACT? Higher scores are always good.
Yeah I’m planning on taking the SAT again and my goal is 2010. The 3.4 GPA is including my grades this semester though.
It just extremely frustrating having earned 3.75’s freshman and junior year only to have it lowered by something out of my control. My transcript shows I’m capable. Do you think they’ll realize somethings up?
Well, the SAT format just changed. Top score is 1600 now.
I realize that I meant the equivalent to a 2010.
