SAT scores

My S (HS junior) took the January SAT and scored 2280. At that time we didn't choose any colleges for the scores to be sent because that was his first time. He aslo signed up for the March SAT and this time we picked four colleges to send the scores. (CB sends the scores for free up to 4 colleges) . If he scores less than 2280 in the march SAT, do we have a choice to send the Jan scores instead?

The CollegeBoard sends all SAT scores in the record. The schools will get both sets. Some people don't list colleges until after they see the results. If the scores went up then they send them (more expensive but less risk if you have a bad day).

And pretty much every school takes the highest score (usually the highest in each subject). So even if he bombs it this time, it doesn't really matter because they still see the 2280. The only reason NOT to send scores is if you are debating whether to send the ACT and/or the SAT, ie your SAT scores might suck so you'd just want to send the ACT.

Why bother sending them yet? Just wait till you get the scores. Your son is still a junior, so there's no rush to get the scores to colleges. A few extra bucks is worth it for your son to look cool :D. 2280 on one try...

then again, drummerdude is right, but I'm not sure if the reviewer doesn't get to see it at all or he just tosses the info out of his head etc...so I try to at least see what I got before deciding whether or not to send it.

Then again, you might be so confident you did well that you just go back to the website right after the test and send the scores, at which point it's still free I think (up to 3 days or something after you take the test).

Thank you all for your input.
