How important are an applicants SAT scores during the admission process? Does Skidmore admissions focus more on EC than SAT scores?

by the way, I got 580 math 680 CR and 680 writing on my first SAT and i'm taking them again so hopefully I can get my math up.

I know that Skidmore relies heavily upon SAT scores in deciding course placement for English your freshman year (103 versus 105 versus 105H) and in fulfilling your math requirement.

With those scores I'd guess that you might qualify for E105 (which boasts many interesting courses) and that you would be required to take a mathematical proficiency test your freshman year. If you failed that, you would have to take a Basic Math Skills class your sophomore year.

In terms of acceptance, I venture to guess that SATs are highly important. (Definitely take them as many times as you can in order to get the best possible scores! Consider taking some SAT prep classes.) But I would also focus on the details of your application - essays and recommendations are key, since Skidmore is not usually a "numbers" school in the admissions process.
