Hi guys, I'm really paranoid because I'm not sure how colleges will view my score.

On my first attempt in November I scored a 2180 with: 790 M ,740 CR, 650 WR

However, on my second attempt in May I scored a 2170 with: 780 WR!!, 700CR,690 M! :O

My super score is a 2310. But I'm really worried about how the drop in the other two sections will be viewed. While all these colleges like Stanford, Princeton, Cornell etc say they take the highest score from across test sittings, will they consider the drop at all as a factor? Or will my score be a 2310 regardless of the drops? I was really disappointed considering math is my strongest subject - I've won awards in it in school and stuff if that helps.

You’re fine. No worries. The drop is not seen as a problem by schools that superscore. For many of them, the superscoring is done by an admin person before your app is even read which means the adcom often is not even aware that lower scores exist. the whole idea of superscoring is to give you the benefit of the doubt with respect to lower scores. superscoring allows you to take the test several times and demonstrate your best work in each subscore to schools.

Phew that’s a relief! Thanks a lot Griffen. Are you a senior at college yourself? Or will you be applying soon? And just to satisfy my OCD, could I have some more opinions :D

Lol I’m not sure if you read the stuff before that The fact that I dropped drastically in two sections on my second attempt. That’s the worrisome part. Not the superscore :P

haha my friend did a VERY risky thing with his SAT. He exceptionally smart, but feels that he can only preform at his best in certain intervals. He took the sat the first time with a 1870… a 270 math 800 reading and 800 writing (he didn’t do a single problem in math!!) he took it again and got a 800 math 710 reading and 720 writing (claiming that skipping math gave him 800s.) Anyway his superscore is 2400, and he is attending yale.

Hahahahaha are you serious??? That really assuages my feelings. That’s a near similar situation (except I didn’t dare stoop to a 270 in math!). Wow if he really is attending yale, then I have more faith in the superscoring system.
