SAT...so confused???!!!

Hey Guys. I'm a South African student and I'm planning to write my first SAT's early next year. I want to prepare really in advance cause it's sooo expensive to write that test here. What exactly are the pre-requisites for the SAT? What books must I buy? Is it difficult? Is it possible for me to fail it?(Not that I will just asking). Do you think it would be better for me to study with a friend maybe? What is the setting of the test? Sorry for all the questions at once but I just wanna make sure. :) Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys !!

Buy the official College Board (“blue book”) SAT practice book. Take a timed practice test and see how well you score and what sections are difficult for you. Only then can you decide the appropriate course of action, be it self-study, getting a tutor, not studying at all, etc.

Well not be be judgmental but obtaining decent prep books in Africa might be hard. Of course I wouldn’t know but that’s my guess. Purchase the College Board SAT book and prepare from there. Do not take the first 3 exams as it is the closest estimation of your score. You can take any exam from 4-10. Just make sure to save the first 3 for last. Once you complete a practice exam, go online and look at the answer explanations but be careful of their strategies. It’s often very long and tedious when a very simple strategy can be applied. Whenever I grade my SAT, I go through EVERY answer and look at what I did correct/wrong. I also write down a math strategy or a grammar rule that I should have used. There are of course other very useful prep books but that’s only if you can afford it as most strategy books range from $15-$30. Best of luck and I hope you achieve your score.

Hey Entric. Don’t worry,we’re quite advanced here:) I don’t live in a jungle. Thanks for the advice TheBeatlesofToday and Entric  I will do!!
