How does Michigan view these? Are they heavily waited. I have a low gpa and am trying to improve my chances as much as I can. Which ones should I take and how many?

They are not heavily weighted. Strong subject tests will not make up for a low GPA. I would recommend focusing on improving your GPA and make the subject tests a lower priority. Take 2-3 subject tests in your strongest subjects or subjects that apply to your major/career goals. A couple 700+ scores will give you a little boost, but it’s nothing huge.

Michigan does not require the SAT II and will not penalize you for not submitting them. As Pat1120 points out, a couple of 800s may give an applicant a slight boost, but it would make up for a low GPA.

High school GPA is a key factor for admission at Michigan. SAT subject test scores will likely not make up for a low GPA. In Michigan’s common data set, GPA is considered a factor that is most important.

I think Alexandre means that a high SAT II would not make up for a low GPA. I would take the SAT II only if you plan to apply to a school that either requires or recommends them. It is not worth taking them if you plan to use them to boost your application to U-M.
