SAT SUBJECT TEST: MATH 2 and BARRONS

Hi,
I’m going to be taking the SAT 2 Math 2 next month…
I am currently taking PreCal at my school and am doing quite well in it.
I have taken an amount of practice tests (PR, McGraw, and the Official Tests released by Collegboard)
On PR and McGraw I’ve been scoring consistently medium to high (720-770) and with the official tests I have been scoring from 780-800s…

HOWEVER!!!

I decided to be extra sure and took a Barrons and scored a 650 which is below where I want to score. Looking in the book, there are many concepts that I think I can learn in a month’s time but some are kind of complex and require time and practice that I’m scared will be more detrimental rather than helpful. What I mean by that is I’m wasting my time on an overly complex guide.

So my question is whether or not Barrons is necessary to score an 800 on the exam.

Thank you so much!

My son plowed through Barron’s book but was frustrated by it. He said some of the explanations were not that helpful (he was taking BC calc at the time and and hadn’t studied the relevant material for two years). Eventually he switched to Sparknotes websites and found the tips much clearer. Some of his early Barron’s practice tests were in the 600s (though he did get into mid 700s on later practice tests after studying the book). He got an 800 on actual test.

You will hear many people say Barron’s is the best because it over-prepares you and makes real test seem easy. But my son concluded that Sparknotes was better prep.

Good luck to you.

I took the exam on Saturday. I studied the book like crazy, and a lot of the concepts didn’t even end up being on tje exam. The actual exam was easier than the practice ones.

I hope you did well! Did you use any other supplements than Barrons?

When will you get the score?
