I have an overview of Physics, but haven’t completed the full course (and the courses in my school are greatly simplified) but I have resolved to take the SAT II Physics Test on January 24th and bought the PR book for Physics.
However, to succeed, I need a really good schedule to follow and I need to know if it’s possible to score really well just by studying from now up till January 24th?
I’d really appreciate it if any of you can give me confirmation this is possible and how many hours a day I should study for?
E.g. 2 hours a day? 3 hours a day?
Right now you have 20 days. You seem to not know most of the material. The SAT Physics is not rote memorization, it is math. Actually, it’s math where you’re not allowed to use a calculator. Ask yourself this, if this was the math level 2, and you had a basic understanding of precal, would you study precal for 20 days and expect a decent score? Most people would say no. If I were you, I’d delay physics until the end of the school year. Become a master at everything the test tests until then. This test is one of the toughest subject tests and it often combines the material. For example, you could run into a nasty question which tests Newton’s Laws and Kepler’s Laws at once. It is possible to score very well, but you need more time to prepare. If you don’t want to wait until the end of the school year, then take at least 3 months to prepare for it. 20 days just isn’t going to cut it. Don’t underestimate this test!
@SONNY0001 I’m a senior, and need this for college. I know Newton’s laws, as I said, I have a decent overview. I’ll try use the time I have and see what I get.
@werekall123 Sorry about that. I was under the impression that you were a junior. Well, then you’ll just have to do a lot of studying for 20 days.
The PR book is good but Kaplan’s is pretty solid too. There’s a lot of conceptual questions on the Physics test too. The exam will be difficult if you don’t know the concepts well so study study study. It’s not just kinematics - you should know E&M well. Don’t aim for a certain amount of time per day - work as much as you can and periodically go through questions and see if you can explain everything being asked of you. Especially for the E&M portion - it’s really hard to just “cram” it. This isn’t history.
