! SAT Subject Test Prep Book List*

I thought it was the other way around. Maybe not.

Which book has the most realistic practice tests for Literature?

Which would you guys say is better for the US History, Kaplan or Princeton Review, especially in terms of realistic practice tests.

I am in APUSH right now (doing well) and have the SAT II scheduled the day after the AP, so I'm just looking for some practice tests, not much review.

I'd like to know that as well

princeton review is better than others.
i used REA, barron's and princeton review.

REA is so detailed, but fulfilled with discrete facts that you won't remember.
princeton's is like a story after a story, you can memorize is better!

thanks dude. How would you say the practice tests are?

Barron's are very hard...you'll do 100 points worse than on your actual test

PR is a little harder...you'll do about 30-40 points better on your actual test

Sparknotes is a tad bit harder...you'll do about 10-20 points better on your actual test.

CB Real SAT II Book is just about the same...you'll probably do about + or - 10 or so on the test.

Those were just based on how I did in January.

nice thread- bump!

any other suggestions for US History prep book?

According to CC, lots of people have been suggesting PR.

I used barron's for math2, chem, and physics. Can't go wrong if u actually plow through the whole book - u may be "overprepared," but a perfect score doesn't look too bad :P

^ Agreed. I'm using barron's for math2 (studying now).

What books are good for world history? Especially interested in practice tests; I've got a huge textbook to read from...

Thanks!

What about the books published by the collegeboard itself, are those good? Especially for US History and Biology E/M.

I'm in both AP american and AP bio, so I don't really need a review book, just practice tests.

What do you guys think of Barron's Biology E/M? I haven't taken bio since freshman year (I'm a junior now) so I need a big refresher and lots of practice tests. Barron's overprepares you on everything else, so I was thinking it was a good bet for biology. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Is there anywhere you can take a look at Literature papers on the internet?

^^^Same question I have Barron's Bio SAT II is it good?

I bought PR's Bio E/M. My plan is to supplement the book with Sparknotes. Hopefully, in June, this will work out. Mind you, I'm in regular Biology.

For those of you interested, I researched nearly every prep book before buying PR. A number of people on CC recommended to use two or more study books, preferably Kaplan and PR. I chose not to do that. I couldn't afford to buy two books. Plus, I was afraid I wouldn't have time to cover all 600+ pages of material between the two books. So, I decided to buy one book.

General consensus was that Barron's had too much worthless information, and Kaplan was the best, but PR was brief, concise and easy to read. From that, I chose PR and Sparknotes which would, hopefully, fill in any blanks by PR. PR's learning style was appealing. I didn't want to trudge through pages and pages of tedious information.

Another option was CliffsAP bio, which was the best for AP and would definitely be worthwhile for the SAT Bio. But, I didn't think I needed to study that much material to do well.

Whats the best books for Practice tests, American and Bio.

The Barron's book sample questions are poorly done and confusing; the PR book is thinner and simpler, but its sample questions are also mediocre -- neither book asks clear enough questions about the excerpts, so the "correct" answers are often not clearly correct or better than some of the alternatives. The REAL SAT book is the only reliable sample test I've seen; unfortunately, it includes only one test.

i own both the barrons(most recent) and pr (2001 version) for sat ii bio. Barrons has some extraneous info and pr does not have much info.

Do you have it? Could you scan it and post a link or something please? I'm planning on pretty much winging the Literature SAT II, so any samples I can see would be helpful.
