Sup,
I was wondering if anyone is going for Harvard early action/regular decision without any Subject Tests? I'm asking because a) whether it would impede on your application simply BECAUSE you didn't do them (even if your academic dexterity can be displayed through other examinations) b) I'm an international student and I was going to take them today, but my train was delayed and I missed it :( I intend to go SCEA for Harvard as well, so maybe they'll be a little understanding.

Subject tests are indeed optional, but judging by Harvard’s exceptionally talented application pool, they are highly recommended.

you can still use november testing dates. so hurry up and sign up for those. do not NOT take the subject tests and expect to be accepted to harvard.

Yeah… Ironically, I am busy that day performing in a national music event.
Perhaps I’ll mention in an interview, if I were to get that far. To admit me to an interview, they’d had to have looked at my credentials that I already have, so I may be able to mention that and take the SAT IIs in December, in time for RD (it’s obviously v. likely I’ll get deferred/rejected). Seem OK?

I’m in the same boat as you: int’l applicant doing the IB without any plans, or rather time, to sit/submit the SAT II’s. I had an on-campus interview recently though, and the admissions officer told me that I didn’t have to stress to much about them as I was doing the IB, though they prefer seeing them. I guess the same applies for the A-levels, Abitur, Le Bac etc. SAT’s are such a pain in the *ss for internationals…

Yeah, let’s hope so. As I said, the only time I could take them is December, the day before I fly out to NYC This is assuming I’d get deferred though - having had a look at previous results from EA decisions, people who get rejected tend to have bad credentials/ ECs which confirms a rejection. For us, as international applicants who probably won’t fall into the boat of being straight up rejected EA, we’ll probably get deferred- in which case, December SAT IIs may be in time for RD round.
On that topic, have you taken the SAT I/ ACT? I don’t think I did remarkably well on my ACT, though my academic credentials for the IB/GCSEs/iGCSEs are pretty good… How do you think you did?
