SAT Subject Tests question

For an engineering applicant, I know UVA recommends at least a math subject test, but what about the other? Does it have to be a physics/chem/bio?

Reason being, my subject tests are currently: Math II - 730, US History - 730, and Chemistry - 650. I was just going to send Math II and US History if a science subject test is not needed.

Can you point me towards the recommendation you found about taking a math subject test? I’m curious.

http://www.admission.virginia.edu/admission

“Results from two SAT II Subject Tests of your choice are strongly recommended. If you intend to study the sciences, we recommend choosing mathematics as one of the two subject tests.”

I think the “sciences” refers to engineering, not just the school of arts and sciences? I could be wrong.

Also, for anyone who is wondering about the same question in the original post - I called the office of undergraduate admissions, and they said that you can send whichever subject test(s) are your best.

They? You are aware that I am a Dean in the Office of Admission, right?

Are you having a bad day, Dean J? You didn’t answer the OP query, so he resolved the question by calling the admissions office. He also linked to the online information that aroused his confusion.

My apologies, Dean J - I didn’t intend to mean “they” as in “in contrast to what Dean J said”, I just wanted to post what the response was, in case someone with the same question stumbles upon this thread.

The person I talked to might have been you - I’m not sure.

Fixed. That was leftover language from a previous iteration of the website.

The current testing language is always here: http://admission.virginia.edu/admission/testing

Thanks - when you google “UVA sat subject tests”, the previous iteration of the website is the first result, followed by the current testing language. I’m not sure if you guys have the ability to fix that, but I just wanted to let you know.

So would submitting a solid ACT w/writing score and only ONE SAT subject test be frowned upon?
