SAT Subject Tests?

So from my basic understanding, the SAT Subject Tests are just something that are required if you want to apply to an ivy league school. Most schools require you to take two subject tests to demonstrate your knowledge or “subject mastery”.

So I am planning on applying into a business program (Ross School of Business or get into Wharton), so I don’t really believe that I need to worry about the English or Science or History subject tests. Since Math seems the most relevant and is my strongest subject, I instinctively would choose SAT Math I and II.

So my question is, do these two subject tests correlate with AP Calc AB and BC? Or are they somewhat different? If I can learn everything in all of AP Calculus would I be capable to get a perfect score on the subject tests or would there have to be a little bit more that I would need to know?

(Might as well also put it here: Do all SAT Subject Tests correlate with a certain AP class?)

Thanks!
Def.

They do not correlate with BC or AB at all. Level 2 is mostly pre Calc and level 1 is more geometry / Algebra 2. You actually can’t send in both level 1 and 2 you usually have to pick one. But most people choose to do math 2

Hello.

I took the SAT Math II last June at the end of my sophomore year. I was trying to decide on which of the two to take but because the Subject Math I test is basically what is on the official SAT test, I went on ahead an took the level 2 test.

You do NOT need to know any Calculus to get a perfect score. I was in AP Calculus BC my sophomore year, but the information I learned had nothing to do with the SAT II Test. I would say the highest math that the test actually correlates to is College Trigonometry (or Pre-Calculus).

If you wanted to know I ended up getting a 780 on the test.
I hope this helps and good luck on your tests!

@czebos Wow, okay. What other subject test do math-favored students usually go for then after math I or math II? (Based what you’ve seen of course, if you do not have an exact answer any type of guess would be fine because I am completely new to SAT subject tests.)

Usually they do a science such as Chemistry, physics, or Bio. Personally I did math level 2 and physics and got 800 and 780 respectively. I had to study a ton for physics though. I have seen people do Us history and literature as well.

My DS18 is signed of for the May SAT Physics and Math2 he’s currently taking Pre-Cal and AP Physics 1 and 2. He has prep books for both and said that everything in the prep book except section scientists names and discoveries was covered in his AP Physics class but said there were somethings he needs to work on for the Math2 test. There were some problems in the prep book but he didn’t know or maybe had forgotten.
