OK, I signed up to take 2 SAT Subject Tests, this Saturday, the Math Level 1 and US History. However, I only feel comfortable with the US History test and will likely do bad on the Math one. I don't have enough time to properly prepare for another test in place of Math. So, I think I should only take the US History one.

Now my dilemma is if I take my other subject tests in November (am retaking SAT I in October) will they be ready for me to send in time for regular college admissions? Will they be ready in time for early decision?

I don't think that's early enough for ED.

Yes, you can retake in November for Early Decision. I did.

Yes, but you cannot drop an SAT test if you signed up for it - only replace, add, or have your calculator malfunction for the math one

You can drop a test. I signed up for Chemistry and Physics but ended up only taking Physics. It's not a big deal.

Margsala, are you sure? People have told me that no matter how many you signed up for you can show up take one and just leave and only the one that you take will be scored.

So basically I've heard that if you signed up for two, you can show up and just take one and leave. I'm pretty sure I'm right on this...

EDIT: Just read schoenhs post, and am a bit relieved about the fact that I was right...

You can show up, take one test, and leave.

What you cannot do is show up, take both tests, and then ask to cancel your score on one test. If you want to cancel SAT Subject Test scores, you have to cancel ALL the scores from that test date (except in the case of a calculator malfunction).

They will score the tests for which you fill in the little identifying bubbles at the top of each answer sheet. If you fill that in and leave the answers blank, they will consider it a request to cancel scores. However, if you don't fill in the top, the other tests will be scored. CB doesn't care because they made an extra $18 or something.....

Depending on which college you plan on applying ED to it may or may not work. EDII plans, if offered, often have more forgiving deadlines. Be sure to check with the admissions office.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

I had to pay an extra 16 dollars or something along with the 18 dollars extra when I dropped the english literature. But it shouldn't be too big of a deal

no problem -- S signed up for two subject tests last fall, but only took one and only that score was reported. (He just took the one test, turned in his book and left the testing center.)
