College Board has been trying hard to make the SAT more relevant by making it more like ACT. The recent overhaul of the SAT test structure was driven in part by them losing ground to the ACT. However it seems in its haste it seems to have undermined the integrity of the test.
I am going the ACT route !!

ACT all the way!

You sure, @“marsha.ss” ?

Yes, I am sure. At least it is consistent and not poorly written. ACT is also moving towards computer based tests abroad.

1 I hate computer based tests. 2. I hate the ACT science section as well as the unrealistic time crunch

As our friends from Reuters have thoroughly exposed the charade that is called the redesigned SAT, Coleman should be called before a Congressional hearing to answer for his organization’s fraudulent activities in duping the public and lack of due diligence in securing its flagship product from the international crime rings .

In the meantime, all universities should scrap the SAT as an admissions requirement and accept the ACT in its stead.

Superfluous words are superfluous!

ha ha!

I actually don’t care about this when you think about all the hunger and pain in the world. Why do you think that which test they take REALLY REALLY matters?

Whining about standardized tests is the hallmark of people who aren’t good at taking them. Period. Now go save the world.

I kind of see your point. World hunger and pain are significantly more important than these dumb standardized tests.

But many of these students who actually care about the outcome of these dumb standardized tests actually volunteer their time to help hunger and pain of others.

Do you volunteer your time to address this hunger and pain in the world?

Many of my students do volunteer their time doing a wide variety of activities to benefit both local and international charitable efforts. Others spend their vacation time going on mission trips. However, they are, IMHO, having to focus on the ACT/SATs because the tests, like them or not, are the “means to an end”.
I have a former student who, because of her ACT score, was able to attend a more exclusive university on a scholarship. There, she was able to do an independent study working with children in Uganda. She is now teaching in an impoverished school district in the U.S.
To finish my point, the test that she took has REALLY REALLY mattered, because many children have been graced with her endless smile, bottomless heart, and sincere caring. Why? Her work on the ACT sparked the blaze of goodness that has followed.
These tests are stupid. But for high schoolers, they are a NECESSARY stupid.
