Maybe an odd question, but my son’s college counselor told him that the US history & World history SAT tests will be seen as “one subject” by UK schools (so he’ll need a fourth test to make the three SAT subject tests requested by U Ed, for example). For reference, the third test he’s taken is Latin. Anyone with more clarity about this? Thanks
Interesting. Hadn’t heard that specifically, but have heard (anecdotally) that World History isn’t rated (as an AP or subject test), because it is seen as a ‘survey’ course (eg, too superficial v the depth required of an A level). What course is your son looking at?
I don’t know the answer to the question, but the same can be said for both AP European History and AP (or Subject Test) US History. While they survey a shorter time period than WH (although less so now that WH has been redesigned), neither is typical of the depth study of A level history, or for that matter, a history course at a higher tier US university.
I had not heard that about the AP world course. collegemom3717, he’s applying to Russian and possibly Russian + linguistics. He’ll likely take the SAT English lit test in October to cover his bases. Thanks.
