SAT USH vs. AP USH

Is the APUSH test comparable to the SAT USH exam?

Like if I can get a 4 on the AP Exam, can I get 700+ on the SAT?

easily. The SAT version is way easier than the AP.

Disagreed, a 5 on the AP is way easier than a 700+ on the SAT.

Source: personal experience I had just a few weeks ago

I have to agree with mathmathmathmath, I took the May SAT subject test for US, then the APUSH exam, and APUSH was much more broad and thematic than the SAT subject test. That’s just me, though.

I took the subject test in May while I was prepping for the AP. I didn’t do any special prep for the SAT (aside from one untimed practice test to familiarize myself with the format), aside from what I was already doing for the AP. SAT focuses more on specifics while AP is a bit more general, but I had no problem with the SAT (my score was a 780, 4 on the AP).

OK, better question. Are you good with knowing specific things (likes Dawes Servalty Act) or more broad thematic questions (like women’s rights in the 1910s)?

I’m better with facts instead of trends, but i don’t know about you.

The SAT version is, in my opinion, much easier than the AP exam. A 5 on the AP exacted a greater toll on my nerves than an 800 on the SAT II exam. However, the SAT II does require an in-depth knowledge of some of the more esoteric events in United States History. I enjoy memorizing trivia and nonsense, so I did not have too much difficulty with that. If that’s not your thing, then perhaps you should re-think your opinion on the facile nature of this exam.

I really feel as if the SAT version was actually much more difficult than the AP. I recieved a 4 on the AP yet ended up scoring a 630 on the SAT II(after reviewing). I couldn’t really pinpoint the difference, but overall the SAT seemed more difficult.

^Well, then in that case, I’d say it is because the SAT II is more detail-oriented. The question that sticks in my mind is one about Samuel Gompers and what a particular picture of him represented. Again, I like this stuff, so I happened to know it, but if U.S. History is not one of your strengths, reconsider.

And dannav247, did you take the SAT II exam immediately upon completing the course, or did you wait until a few months later?

when people say more detail oriented, how much more, the AP wasn’t too bad, and its only been 2 weeks since I took it, and the SAT II is on the 5th, so should it be easy for that knowledge to translate into a 750+ on the Subject Test.

yeah, agree with mathmathmath. I got a 710 on the May SAT US History test, but feel pretty confident I’ll get a 5 on the AP Exam. I thought the AP exam overall was easier. I guess they MC sections are supposed to be the same in difficulty, but some discrepancies make some people think one is harder than the other.
