<p>the objective isn't to memorize the words, that will drive you crazy.
the objective is to familiarize yourself with the words.</p>
<p>get a sense of what they "feel like"

<p>Read anything with more advanced vocab, and look up any words you don't understand. That'll show you the words in the proper context, and should be easier for you to remember.</p>
<p>if you just have a bunch of words and you try cramming them, that doesn't really work, since they just leak out of your brain. try creating interesting, wacky sentences with them to help you remember. like, the word recalcitrant. (means stubborn) the sentence i composed was "the recalcitrant youth, despite being given probation by the judge, immediately killed 10,000 people after being released".</p>
<p>I memorized 5 sat vocabs every day, and take vocab quizes in weekedns so imagine how many words are in my memory after a year.</p>
<p>My son is a NMF and reads constantly. Find all kinds of books you enjoy reading, particularly fiction with higher level vocabulary, and read as much as possible.</p>
