SAT Vocabulary Prep ( online?)

I am wondering about the best way to learn SAT vocabulary. Are online programs better than simple flash cards? If online programs are the best way to go, can anyone recommend the best programs out there?

I have heard of "Ultimate Vocabulary" and "Power Vocabulary Builder"-- but I have no idea about them or how to evaluate one over the other. Does anyone use these, or know of anything else to recommend? Thanks

Hi seachge333! I have just the site for you: Vocabulary.com. It’s free, there are no advertisements, and it is by far the best vocabulary improving website out there. It customizes itself to your skill level by gauging your vocabulary over time. It does this by analyzing what questions you answer correctly and wrongly. When you answer a question wrongly, Vocabulary.com makes sure you learn that word by repeatedly asking you questions about it until you have mastered it. It makes it possible for you to master words by defining them using simple language and accompanying these everyman definitions with memorable blurbs so you don’t forget.

You can add your own words to your list of Words I’m Learning in case there are certain ones especially likely to appear on the SAT. In any case, I think you will be very pleased with Vocabulary.com. I wish you luck on your SAT.

Another cool site to check out if you’re looking for help on your Vocabulary with SATcomVideo.com - they created an original sitcom that teaches you 250 words by watching a 20 minute video… kind of feels like watching Friends only you’re actually studying for the SATs!

The best SAT vocab book is Direct Hits, memorize the 400 words it got then move on to other vocab lists/books for additional words.
