SAT Vocabulary

I'm going to be taking my SAT test in June 2015 and I have just started learning the SAT vocab (13 words a day). I was initially planning on learning about 3,500 words ( from the Barron's book) but I've come to a conclusion that I will not be able to learn everything. I now think about learning about 1,500 words, and I'm also going to be doing a lot of reading from the college board recommended list of books & a bunch of newspapers and magazines. I don't have a very good memory so if I try to cram all 3500 words I'll probably end up forgetting half of them. I wanted to know if 1000-1500 was enough for a good critical reading score?

Cramming so many vocab words is not going to help you at all.
I recommend that you just learn the words in Direct Hits Volume 1 and Volume 2.
After that, start with practice papers and make flash cards of each difficult word you come by.

True!!! 3500 words won’t help at all… master the way to handle the word patterns… not the words!

That Barron’s list is very bad. Direct Hits 1 & 2, Word Smart 1 & 2 are way better.

I agree with the previous staters. Direct Hits is fantastic. 3500 words is a crapload.
