SAT vs. ACT - Reading Only

I am taking new SAT for the first time this fall, however, I am having trouble solving ‘reading section’ questions. Please suggest me if the difficulty level of ACT reading is similar or little easier than SAT reading. I don’t mind taking the ACT this fall as well if the reading section is easier than SAT one.

Please help!

The ACT reading is easier, but the time limits are tougher. For the ACT you must read and complete 4 passages with 40 questions in 35 minutes. The SAT has 5 passages and 52 questions in 65 minutes.

@academiccoach I completely understand the time constraints between these two tests. I would have about 52.5 seconds/questions in ACT whereas I would get 75 seconds/question in SAT. I was just wondering about the differences in the difficulty level of passages and questions.

Yes, and as I said first, the ACT reading passages are easier. The questions are in general more direct. But the answers are scattered throughout the passage and the time limits require speedier reading which really nullifies the difference. You should attempt a practice ACT Reading section to determine which is “easier” for you because everyone is different.

@academiccoach I did try once, and found the ACT reading passage a little easier than SAT reading passages. However, I am having trouble solving science section of ACT so that really doesn’t leave me any choice, but to go with SAT.
