I’ve been lurking for a while. My two older sons are both business majors and I an trying to educate myself on nursing programs. My daughter is a junior in high school and I am registering her for the SAT. She wants to apply for direct entry nursing programs.
Is it necessary to take the essay part? Do nursing programs require it?

Some college require, some recommend and some do not consider. You have to check one by one the colleges that your child applies to. It is a college requirement (or not) and not a nursing specific requirement. In general most of the colleges do not consider it but you should check in case some colleges in your list do. I think state colleges in California are among the few that do require it.
