SAT words memorizing tips!! please reply

hi CC community,
I've got 400 most important words for sat from direct hits but no idea how to hit that list!!
i could not memorize those words! i have test on Nov and i have to make it fast !!
please write some tips to memoriz those words effectively and fast!

THANKX in advance!

Well, first off I review words by page. I have an 800+ word list on 105 pages. I first read through the definitions, then I see if I can remember all of the definitions. If can, then I move onto the next page and repeat the first step. I then review the first page again and then the second page. I move on to the third page and repeat all the steps over and over again. That is how I memorized the word list. It’s repetitive, but it works.

thankx for ur reply! but when i go through the word list and ask myself the meaning… i unwillingly try to memorize meanings in series! and this is great problem for me!
i actually can’t identify the meaning if same word is used in passage!

It’s important to know how the words are used in the context of sentences just as much as the definitions themselves. Try looking up the words in dictionaries that provide sentences.

Last year in AP english my teacher had us use a system to help us memorize the 20 words we were given each week. I’ve found it really, really works! So hopefully it will work for you too! So what you do is make flash cards connect a memory/some other kind of trigger that is in part of the word and you highlight that section. For example, “obstreperous” means noisy/boisterous, and for that word I would underline “strep” because whenever I have strep throat I can’t talk and therefore I am not obstreperous, or noisy. That seems kind of stretching it, but it really helps for a lot of people. Another example would be “abrogate” which means to cancel, and I would highlight “bro” because a bro doesn’t cancel on your plans. Haha it’s really kind of stupid but highly effectual. You should try it out :)

Hey, dw I was in the same situation you were in. Before I was forced to memorize 100words per day and it took me 5 hours altogether!!! but slowly my memory gained strength and now I am able to memorize the words in 30-40mins but only after a couple of weeks. Try merrium webster to help you

My suggestion is to just give yourself the “will” to actually study everyday. I didnt give myself a break and even studied on the bus, before class started, etc. Basically I had no life for 2 weeks but then my studying time slowly decreased and I had the time to study other SAT materials for math and writing. BUT, if you really feel lazy about it, I would then suggest studying the writing rules!
Just train yourself aggressively until the last couple days before the test to cool off. Cuz this SAT might save your life in transferring Unis in the future-- and I’m telling you, its a pain to brag yourself in it.

well thankx people for idea and courage :P

actually i needed was just courage!!
thankx CC community once again!!
