SAT Writing Q's

What did u guys put on the “tendency of having” question

the Churchill one with “insights into the workings of the human mind”

and “Forty years have passed since African-Americans staged a march on Washington D.C., in an attempt to secure civil rights.” with in an attempt underlined.
the writing section wasn’t bad, but these doubts are bothering me

I put choice E for all 3 of those.

is insights into an appropriate phrase

don't we say "insights of" instead of "insights into"?

the comma for 3. is not needed

yea u def dont need into becuase thats what insigts imply

So you take out the into and have it be "insights the workings of the human mind?" Yeah, that makes sense. I do not believe the comma was underlined for number 3.

there has to be a different phrase

darn. i thot there was something wrong in all of them, it doesn't look very good for my writing score now

I put tendency of having as wrong

I think "insights into" is the correct phrase, so I put no error.

I put no error. Was the comma underlined though? I guess the comma isn't necessary, now that I look at it...

Tickle exact same as me. I think we are right. I dont think CB ever tests commas or even punctuation in sentence errors. I havent seen that on any practice tests.

insights into is so ackward f this shi t

The comma in 3 was not underlined.

What about the question about the television clothing commercials? Was the "condemned to be" idiomatic? I thought it should've been condemned as, but I wasn't sure..

I chose the letter for "in an attempt" just because "attempting" sounds better since there was a comma in the sentence. Maybe someone who actually knows grammar rules can enlighten us on what the right answer is? :P

Yeah, I circled the "to be" in that question.

the comma wasn't underlined, but i chose "in an attempt" because i thought it should be "attempting," given the comma, thus making that entire last clause parenthetical

The above statement is correct.

which one?

any more opinions? i don't know what to think now, lol

for the "tendency of having" question, the error in it was choice C : "bored at being"
