We just got November SAT score and D got 2300 (780CR, 750M and 770W). She made one mistake on math section that resulted in 50 points deduction. This is her first time taking SAT. Should we stop at this point or try to raise her math score? This is her first time taking this test. I see that 75% for math is 770. She will be applying next year to CS or EECS.

Its a good score and if it matches her GPA and other AP scores, it should be fine. The chances of losing in CR and W are higher than making up in M.

Edit: Oh - is she a junior nw ?

@mwahal yes. She is a junior. She will take AP Calc test this year. So far her UC GPA is up to par.

It really would not hurt for her to take it again. UCB requires all SAT scores and they will take the highest score from 1 sitting.

I see. She only took it once. She will be taking SAT math2 and AP Calc later this year.

I guess the answer I am looking for is no, do not take it again, but again the 75% for math is 770 and we are at 750. It is just that with her perfectionist personality those tests are very stressful events. I was hoping she can focus on her SAT 2s and EC now. But I need someone with experience to advise me one way or another.
One more piece of information. She took ACT in the beginning of her sophomore year before she took trigonometry – pre-calculus, and her ACT composite was 32 with math only at 29. I hope UCB will not look at this as a pattern for not doing so great in math. Also I do not know if she can not to send her ACT if she sends SATs and SAT2s.
