I was just wondering if a good score in writing will compensate for a lousy score in verbal and vice-versa.
Any opinions?

it depends on how 'lousy' the lower score is... If you get 700 in one of them and 500 on another, admissions will wonder what happened... It just doesn't make sense.

also I find them to be very different tests. Verbal tends to test your vocabulary and reading comprehension skills while writing tests.. well your writing. I know a lot of students who have a great vocabulary and reading skills but cannot write/edit grammar for crap.

what if you get like 700+ for writing and say 400+ for verbal, will that make up for the bad score?

Is that possible? I think its more legit to have a 700+ score, a 4+ AP English score, and then, if you bombed the writing, then, I am pretty sure the adcom will suspect that you just freakin' had a bad test day. But I am not sure the 300+ difference between V and II is even a possibility. Eh! So, I have no idea!

thanks for all the replies...
anymore opinions?

So does anyone know if a "700+ for writing will make up for a 400+ in verbal sat1" ?
