SATI Writing/AP HYPSM

I took the SAT for the first time in May and received a 2250:
780 Math
760 Critical Reading
710 Writing

While the Math and CR are pretty good, my writing score is a bit low. However, I was talking to my math teacher who said that a 5 on the AP English Lang. test would compensate for the 710 writing and basically mitigate any doubts adcoms might have about my writing ability, especially considering that AP essays are on a much higher level than the SAT.

As it turns out, I received a 5 on the English Lang. So I'm wondering if this is true, and if I should still retake the SAT I only for the sake of my writing score. I know I can raise it a lot, but don't really feel like taking another 4-hours test. I am applying to HYPSM by the way.

Someone here said that they asked an adcom and he/she said that no, it won't compensate a 710 in writing.

Wow, a 710 in writing, you might as well start applying to community colleges now with that score

dagnn... i got a 800 on sat I writing, would that compensate for a 4 on the english ap?

Are you guys being sarcastic with me?

Yes sir/ma'am. But for the sake of being constructive, I seriously doubt you need compensation for that score on the writing. The writing section is probably being weighted the least by colleges in comparison to math and verbal (I have heard and read the verbal is weighted more heavily than math but I'm not quite positive on that).

Besides that, you will most likely not recieve any compensation from an AP test. AP tests are taken into account in college admission but not nearly to the degree that SAT II scores, let alone SAT I, scores are.

Again I dont think you need compensation for that score but the only way to change it is to work at it and take the test again.

wait if u get a 2 on an AP, do colleges still see it?
