I wanted to see if the SAT LIT was as hard as everyone says, so I bought the Kaplan book and took a practice test. It was difficult, and in the end I was disappointed to find that I had gotten 8 wrong and had left 2 blank, giving me a score of 51 out of 63. But when I looked at the curve, it said a 51 equates to a 770.

So my question is twofold:
1) Are the tests in the Kaplan book comparable to the real SATII?
2) Does the real test have a curve like that?

Thanks.

yes, the real test felt just like it after i took 7 of the 8 kaplan tests.

i don't know about the curve though, the one in the collegeboard's study guide is stricter than the kaplan ones, so maybe you're better off just practicing, not predicting your actual score.

Well, I was trying to figure out if I should go ahead with taking it at all. I'm signed up for three in June (Math2, US, and Lit). Starting to think that maybe taking Lit is a bad idea, so unless I can get a pretty good score with relatively minimal studying, I might just skip it on test day.

Anyone know where I can get a more accurate curve?

Here's the Lit curve from the official Sat II book (it's out of 61, so I hope that the format hasn't changed)

61-800
56-800
55-790
54-780
53-780
52-770
51-760
50-750
49-740

From there is goes down by 10 almost every time except for two 700's at 45 and 44.

Thanks for the info.
Seems pretty similar.

I just bought the Official SAT II book, and this is the curve:

61 - 800
60 - 800
59 - 800
58 - 790
57 - 790
56 - 780
55 - 770
54 - 760
53 - 750
52 - 750
51 - 740
50 - 730
49 - 720
48 - 710
47 - 710
46 - 700

Is it possible that I have a different edition than yours, stix2400?

there's a real SAT II Tests, a real SAT Subject Tests, and an Official Study guide for all Subject Tests so who knows?
