OK so I'm applying RD to schools like Notre Dame UVA. Gtown, Vandy, and Wake Forest (I've got safeties too..), and I've taken the SAT three times. (The first time was randomly as a sophomore--big mistake.) The breakdown went 1750--->2000--->2100 this past October test. I scored the highest in all sections with this third testing: CR: 720 M: 650 W: 730. I'm so fed up with the SAT but I've been advised to take it again this December to try and break a 1400. How much does this ACTUALLY matter. First off, it will be my fourth time taking it...and wouldn't that reflect poorly? Secondly, I'm pretty sure I can do better math, but I don't want to risk lowering my other two scores. I know ND and other schools superscore but I still think it might look J.V. Anyone have some advice?

Retake it if you think you can do better.

i second that...4th time is usually pushing it...but unless u can make sure u hit a 2150+...then don't retake...if i were in ur situation...i would study my ass off (lol right) and take it again BUUUT...if u think u didn't do as well enough to hit 2100 again...then immediately cancel score...if u feel u pwned it...then keep....

Yea... uh the thought about taking it again annoys me but competition is so cut-throat now.. who knows

Ohh could a good SAT 1 Math score override an average math score?

Take teh ACT? Im like u, i could never do well on the SAT. I studied my butt off in the summer, and got a 640W, 670M, and 700CR in october. I took teh ACT and got 34E, 32M and 32R. I would take the ACT if i were u

try the ACT
dont take it again.
no offense, but you might do worse.

Yeah, either take the ACT, or study for the SAT and see if you're improving enough in practice tests, then take it again if you are. I like ACT better, personally.

does it really matter to do worse in a sitting...I mean with superscoring and everything nowadays?

yea. I know for a fact that Notre Dame could care less. My bro's roommate took it five times and I've heard of others... so who knows
