I agree that the SAT is not a very good test... but I think people mis-state its problems. You cannot buy a 1600. Most people will never be able to get a 1600 no matter how hard they work and how much money they spend. You have to have a certain innate ability.

The problem with the SAT is not that prepping helps, that is true with any test. The problem is that the innate ability it tests is not necessarily the innate ability colleges should be looking for in admissions. But that doesn't change the fact that the thing the SAT tests IS a kind of ability.

okay about buying good scores on the SATs...those of you who think its impossible are kidding yourselves. here, there are about 3-5 kids in my grade who paid doctors to say that they have learning disabilities so now they have untimed testing, and even more kids (maybe ten or so) have 'advantage' tutors... tutoring that costs about $12,000 per subject test. i dont even know what they could be learning for all that money, but it works. every year those are the kids that get the perfect or near perfect scores. luckily i can take a few practice tests and walk in and do well, but there are a lot of kids who can't and thats where the socioeconomic bias on the SATs comes in.

"but there are a lot of kids who can't and thats where the socioeconomic bias on the SATs comes in."...YES MANN..DAM IT!....SCREWED! SATS ARE UNFAIR! HEHE (I'M REALLY NOT LAUGHING BTW)

Thanks wrong, any doctor who does that should be ashamed- they are supposed to be trustworthy and honest people. $12,000 is crazy, thats more than a state schools tuition!!!

Never tried it. It isn't really promoted in this area, so I never thought about it. Its too late now 4 this year, I'll probably take it next year in case I decide to transfer.

Haha... has anyone done the math to see how much collegeboard makes with the SAT every year? A LOT!!! but all the colleges ask for it, so you have to give the money. It's a conspiracy, I tell you! It's the government's fault. It's George W. Bush's fault + John Kerry's fault + George Washington's fault + Saddam Hussein's fault + Slobodan Milosevic's fault + your mom's fault + ...
