Saving $$$ When Sending Scores

I'm planning on taking the January SAT II, and want those scores to be considered for my applications.

Right now, I have:
- an already good SAT I score (2290), and expecting even better scores from this month (2350+)
- decent SAT II scores already (800 USH, 780 Math II, 740 Biology, 720 Literature).

I want to, however, retake Literature, Math II and Biology because I am confident in my ability to get 800's on at the least, Bio and Math. I just kind of crammed prior to the first time taking them so I could have some semi-decent scores for applications in case something unforeseen came up in January, and kind of promised myself I would work harder and get better scores to send in once applications were in.

The problem is, I don't want to send in my scores until I get my January scores, which will be in February. Is it stupid for me to wait to send scores until so late just for marginally better SAT II's? The difference is having the best possible scores seen for my score-choice schools, and more importantly, the $10 fee. I know that's not a huge fee, but if I have to send scores this month to 12 schools and then in February to 12 more schools, then I'm paying a lot more than I need to just for a couple of extra points.

I just called Columbia to ask if it would be okay to send all my scores together in February, and the lady said it was perfectly fine and that my file would only be reviewed after I sent the scores in. She also clarified that even if my scores were sent so abysmally late, my application itself would not be considered late.

Nonetheless, I feel a little wary of waiting until February to send scores. But I also would feel bad about wasting my parents money needlessly by sending scores 2x. What is your opinion on the matter? Also: do you think other schools will follow the same policy as Columbia? I really don't wanna call all 12 today before getting some opinions.

Thanks!!

EDIT: As an aside, do you think it is okay to send scores before I submit an actual application? Will there be a file open for the scores or will the scores just be discarded because there is no active file yet? I don't really know how admissions offices deal with all the paperwork coming in.

If a school accepts the January SAT, then it is fine (practical) to send all your other scores with your January SAT score in one score report in February. Schools are not stringent about when SAT scores arrive like they are about the due date of the actual application. That’s why the deadline of the application (e.g., January 1) is well before the last accepted SAT (e.g., late-January and February) for these schools. If you want to be sure just call each individual school like you did Columbia.

Yes, they will save it on file. You are actually encouraged to send scores early. That’s why the College Board gives you free score reports that expire.
