Say "thanks" to a helpful CC member!

sabaray hasn’t gotten any infractions, though.

arcadia, no, it’s just the “next level” so to speak, most likely. More reputation points= bigger and better things (AKA new titles)

Arcadia, thank you for quoting that! I thought of that as soon as I saw it said infamous, haha. That’s possibly my favorite movie of all time. “You killed the invisible swordsman!”

I personally like the idea. I think that currently there is really no way to point out who leaves good advice. I’ve seen people with 500+ posts that don’t give the most helpful advice in the world.

^^^…could be, although “infamous” certainly has a negative connotation.

Now sabaray and I have been changed to the “distinguished road” line. Interesting…

Apparently, I’m on a distinguished road too! Can we get some insight as to what these rankings mean? Do they deal with this new system, or are they based off of post count. Or a combination of the two?

Despite what our new rankings may end up being, I just wanted to say to everyone that I consider them equally worthy of respect.

I consider people who are actually trying to help others with respect here. If someone’s just being a ■■■■■, obnoxious, etc. I don’t respect them. Just saying…

Are some or most of the long-term posters also for hire as college consultants ?

^Why do you ask?

LOL! This should fun

I think I would like being a “scoundrel,” but I can never really keep up my indignation for very long. :stuck_out_tongue:

I would like to meet a “scoundrel” or another “infamous” person on CC right about now

Just seems like a system designed to bolster those “long-time posters” reputation who also happen to work as for-hire college consultants through a related company. Could also be used to discredit those “not in the club”.

Hmmm if you are going to keep this system (which, again, I don’t particularly agree with lol), maybe there’s a way to let the users know when they get helpful ratings and what not? I got em and I didn’t realize it until I went digging. Just a thought

^When you go on your control panel it tells you

Most of the long-time posters aren’t offering services of any kind - they are parents, and occasionally students, who decided to stick around and help others. (Actually, that was my motivation in helping start CC - after going through the college process twice, I realized how little I knew at the beginning, and hoped to help others get down the learning curve more quickly.)

And, of course, nobody is allowed to promote services, products, etc. in the forums. That’s a policy that has kept us remarkably free of both obvious spam and more subtle promotional efforts.

well the mods should get a gazillion reputation points for that-- keeping out the spammers is no easy task.

[off to find helpful posters like kelsmom to add to reps…]

Why do I not see this at the bottom of my cp? I’m using Firefox.
