SCAD - NASAD Certification and fast growth concerns

I’m new here, but I think RainingAgain has refuted every one of your points. Why the online snit? SCAD is what it is.

Every now and then, a student or faculty member from the early to mid-1990s will resurrect issues they had with the college over 15 years ago.

At the time the school had significant problems. It was NOT a good time for anyone - the students, the faculty, and the Rowans/Poetters - from 1992 to 1996. ALL three groups acted maliciously and/or irresponsibly toward the others. People were hurt personally, and professionally. In all likelihood, LALondonNY is from this period, and may have been adversely affected.

If anyone wants to read a scathing article about these years, just Google “lingua franca scad”, and read “Sinister Designs”. The article paints a brutal and one-sided picture, but it does provide an account of the turmoil in which the college was immersed. I arrived in Savannah in 1994 and experienced the tail end.

LALondonNY, calls me a shill, yet I have no reason to be one. I saw much of what happened (15+ years ago), my butt was fired from the college as a faculty member, and because of a standard clause in the separation agreement, I cannot step foot on SCAD property or attend a SCAD function nor get an alumni card. I’m a little hurt by that, but I refuse to be bitter because so many very very very good things happened for me while I was there.

The past is the past. It is not the present nor the future, yet some people cannot disconnect the past from the present. It’s a shame. I don’t post here to promote the college; I post here to respond to accusations that are either false or irrelevant because the college has grown, evolved, matured, etc.

So does this mean that you consider me a shill because I’ve posted positively about the school?

I can respect differing opinions regarding ANY school…its why choice exists for students. But unless there is something substantive you can offer about your opinion, it only serves to confuse others looking for personal experience and/or fact-based information.

Education is the investment of your life! Get the best design education or at least a decent one. This is the list of the best US art and design Colleges: [Best Fine Arts Programs | Top Fine Arts Schools | US News Graduate Schools](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-fine-arts-schools/fine-arts-rankings)

As you can see, you can get the best ones such as RISD ranked #1 or bad art and design colleges such as the savannah college of art and design (SCAD) ranked #134

Also consider a safe place to study. Save some money to risk your life or living in fear? Savannah has one of the most horrible chrime reputation in the US, while Providence and many other college cities are very safe.

Remember: Just because a school looks flashy, cool and expensive doesn’t mean is a good one!

noyesblablabla, those ranking are for GRADUATE ed.
Some art schools have no or very few graduate students.
Cranbrook is ranked highly, in part, because they ONLY MFA (not BFA).

Your list is misleading.
I have no idea where SCAD would rank, good or bad, I just know this isn’t the list to look at to determine undergrad strength.
