I'm a sophomore right now and because of family issues and the death of a loved one i ended freshman year with a 3.0, i was majorly depressed and hung around kids who were going nowhere in life.
Now i'm taking 2 honor class (all i can take) and have a 3.7 gpa, Looking to get a 4.0 by the end of the year.
Also on wrestling team, robotics and film club. Currently looking for an internship.
Now i've really been starting to get stressed lately to a point where tears were released.
Looking at colleges like:
Stanford
Nyu
Penn
Syracuse
Boston
Pace

I feel like my freshman year is going to ruin me.

because of b's and c's in biology i'm left with earth science this year, which is really bugging me because i'm not challenged at all.

Don’t panic. Colleges know that freshman year is a tumultuous time for.many kids, and many schools will virtually ignore your freshman grades ( unless they’re all F`s) Colleges want to see an upward trend in your GPA, they won’t discount you because of a bad freshman year. Focus in getting A s in your classes, then as soon as you can take several AP courses. Senior year your freshman year will be invisible on your transcript, just a tiny blot. Focus now. You can do it. There are second chances in life, though they are few and far between. This is one of them.

Hey, hang in there. I’ve been in your shoes. I lost my grandmother in May of my freshman year and when I had to study for exams I just never felt like studying and I’d just stay in bed. But it does get better. I promise.

Whenever you’re having a rough day, just take a break and watch a funny video or something. I watch music videos from Frozen. It just helps me forget about my problems and helps me focus on my schoolwork. Also, keeping a journal helps. Putting your sadness/anger into paper really calms you down.

You seem like a hard worker and a good student, so don’t give up! Best of luck!
