now the only class that I am scared of taking is calculus. So I was wondering if you guys had any advice on how to study for calculus.

thanks for any advice

Calculus isn’t too bad. You just need keep an open mind that math isn’t just arithmetic and algebra and you’ll be fine.

You also need to go in without the mindset of “I don’t like math” or “This is too hard”. Practice as much as you need to and utilize the math lab if you need to.

Like you, I was scared of having to take Calculus this year in college. However, I found that using online resources and workbooks really helps prepare me. Try going on Paul’s Online Math Notes, and if you can, buy Schaum’s Outlines Calculus from Amazon. Oh yeah, don’t forget to use KhanAcademy, too!

That’s a good idea. Having an idea of what you are going into help as well. Knowing what the derivative is, and later in the course, what the integral is will help a ton too. The best way to learn the material, though, is to learn applications as well. Whether that is real-world applications, or just another way of looking at a typical graph, it depends on the person.

Depending on what you need to take in the future, Calculus is useful in all areas of science, some moreso than others.

I had to restudy calculus 2 (was over 20 years since I took it) to help my son get the grade he needed. Here is site that helped me.

thank you so much it has been two years since I have taken math. so I don’t really know where to start. I bought a calculus for dummies book and that has helped a little.

I bought that book as a starting point, but for me, it wasn’t very helpful because it didn’t have a lot of practice questions. At least the explanations were all right. :)
