SCEA admit rate

What's the SCEA admit rate, as opposed to the RD admit rate?

SCEA for '14: 13.9%

http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/university-news/2010/01/11/early-admit-rate-stays-steady/

5.2 percent for RD?! holy ****.

Keep in mind that the SCEA applicant pool is more self-selecting than the RD applicant pool.

In what ways is it self-selecting? Don’t most students choose EA schools if they’re not sure, or need to review financial offers? Is this the self-selecting to which you’re referring, and if so, what part do academic credentials play?

According to the 09-10 common data set the overall admit rate is 8.56% for men and 6.68% for women. It doesn’t look good in either pool for women.

What I mean by self-selecting in this context is that the SCEA applicant pool has, on average, stronger applicants than does the RD applicant pool. For this reason, the acceptance rates cannot be compared meaningfully.

@alwaysgraceful, keep in mind that even w/ a 5.2% RD rate, people w/ my pathetic stats still get in :)

^ Your stats are excellent. I’m not sure what you mean.

haha ECazndb8r, that doesn’t make me feel better since you were like a debate champ.

@alwaysgraceful, love the name, first of all, 2, you need to PM me what school you’re from, I don’t see a lot of Asian girls in debate
@Silverturtle, just wanted to emphasize that 2400 and Val status wasn’t totally necessary (even when Asian  ) upon actual calculatiuon, my GPA UW must have been closer to 3.6 than 3.8…

I’ll agree with you there. In fact, it can’t be necessary, as there are probably only a few dozen such Asian applicants.

This has always confused me. I want to apply Yale SCEA, but I heard that it’s harder than Yale RD, which confused me even more since the SCEA admit rate is so much higher. Lol, I’m just gonna apply SCEA.

While the SCEA acceptance rate is higher, the conventional wisdom is that the applicant pool is also more competitive.
