SCEA Applicants

yeah, the FAQ says three good sentences are enough. I guess they'll spend more time on the essay (well, obviosuly). Maybe they wanted a feel, maybe, of what you would be talking about.. to brace themselves.. hehe

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I went ahead and wrote out a quick explanation of the activity. Seems to be a good idea.

Damn haha reading all this makes me want to grab back my app and add some more details. =p

Did anyone else submit without an additional resume? I left out alot of activities that I did that I didn't consider important, though I guess they do look good. Should I bother sending it in by paper? I did mine online so I didn't bother with the resume and tried to squeeze everything into the boxes the common app gave us..

Oh yeah anyone knows how to write a cover letter? Like when you send in your transcripts and all.. official certs etc.

thank you muchs! =p

Do we have to send official certs?

Well I figured.. if not how would they know whether whatever you obtained is true or not?

I thought they relied on our integrity, plus they can always do random checks by ringing up our schools or something. I'm sure, if you say you won some state or national competition or something, it's always possible to verify if that's true.

Umm..there's no optional or required EA Declaration form, right?

on the common app, sign the EA thing at the top of page 1

i was reading last yr scea and they said it was posted online at 9 am.... does anyone know about this?

I am getting so nervous about all of this! It is on my mind all the time. I really hope that all of us get in EA! It would be so cool for us all to hang out at Yale when we get in (because of course we will!!) :)

im thinkin of applyin EA dudes. I'm frmo RI, so holla. Um, i made a separate post about this, but I have a friend who said that applying EA (in general, i didnt specify yale) may actually be tougher than RD. Here are his words

"Because they accept less applicants, and the applicants are much better qualified..adcoms might be willing to take a chance on RD, but those who get in EA are the cream of the cream of the cream of the crop"

Anyone know if this is true/false?

I'm nervous, too. especially since my activity essay is coming out terribly! ahhhhh

chidimma, thanks for the critique. I've used a lot of your ideas to make it better. At least, I think it's better.

Anyways, the activity essay is just supposed to contrast my more serious common app essay.

is anyones activity essay actually 150-200 words ... mines 57 b/c thats all that fits w/o goin over....

I mailed my application today!!! Even after having several problems with Commonapp online. But I checked over the application about 3000 times and it seemed to be without any flaws (not taking into account my low SAT and class rank...hahaha).

Anyway, so today, after I mailed in my application, I went to dinner with my mommy and I saw a woman wearing a Yale sweatshirt. Now, from where I live (Cleveland), this is a rare occurance. I've NEVER seen anyone wear anything "Yale" except for myself and a couple people from school. I also recieved in the mail today from Yale a letter from the Yale Alumni Association of Cleveland.

I hope these are good omens! What do you guys think??? Good luck to EVERYONE. December 15th will be a sad sad day....Yale Massacre 2004......

Yep. I'm sorta looking forward to Yale Massacre 2004. Childish dreams will be destroyed, bright-eyed optimism shattered in the dagger-like thickness (or lack thereof) of the fateful letter.

ivyboy! I live in the Cleveland area!! Did you go to the info session a few weeks ago? Only 18 people went to Yale from the NE Ohio region... yikes! Good luck to you too :)

haha. amen to that!

Kstar...where do you go to school?

DECEMBER 14th - HERE - GROUP PRAYER - INTERDENOMINATIONAL :-P
