Yea, I had to cut a bunch of characters out of essays. The way I see it, write to about 2000 characters, then lose all the body fat, so you're left with an essay that is full of substance. I've had to cut 300, 400, and still have to cut another 300 off my last essay. Now if you write an essay that ends up being 800 characters over on a 1600 character essay, there's probably no hope. I wrote a 2400 char essay, and tried to cut it down, but there was no way.

pyleela, you idiot! you need self-control! lol jm i second itida though. it is way to mitigate the anxiety or to increase it (depending on how nice the people are) lol. im so happy! 11 more days, and this deadline is over lol. then the true anxiety comes. lets see who gets tempted to post a chance thread

Haha... everyone has an urge to do chances. I kinda do :P The worst I think is when they have blazingly amazing stats and they know it...
Anybody trying to draft a good "Describe how you have spent your last two summers."? Or is it just going to be straight up honesty?

Yess I finished one short essay draft (meaningful activity) finally! (i'm way behind everyone...but the writer's block is coming off of me finally and I'm writing like mad). Though my essay is 2,900 characters (oops)...

yea i have the same questions...when talking about your summers is it just straight up honesty? so far mine is very to the point in order to fit in a smuch as possible. i just kind of talk through both summers, not really listing hours per week weeks/year or anything like that

also im struggling with the roomate essay....anyone have any advice?

i just talked about my summers straight forward. as for the roommate essay, i suggest you do that in the end since it is pretty much a freebie. i know many people want to make it funny, but it doesn't have to be. just have anything that shows a side of your personality. for example, for devaaki, he could talk about how he loves girl scout cookies. if he wanted to make it funny, he could make it parallel to a kind of drug (since it does relax him).

haha so i just started reading some of this thread....i was on it along time ago but kinda tried to take a break from cc and focus...yea...right lol haha in response to the girl talking about exercise...i hope we both go to stanford and are roomates lol because we could be gym rats together lol...if i didnt work at Golds i totally wouldnt find time to workout..........

So I've been thinking....at my school seniors get out of school two weeks before everyone else. i wish that instead of two weeks at the beginning of the summer, they would give us two weeks in october to fill out apps...that would make life soooo much easier! lol

Well I'm done with 2 of my short essays, and a draft of my long one. I'm still working on "intellectual idea" though. For the summers essay as the word limit is only 480 characters, is anyone else using bullet points with an intro?

Girl scout cookies. Damn that was a good idea choboking. Crap... And my roommate essay is the only one that I think is truly done, lol.

I'm with your previous post, quickflood. My picture essay is 500 chars short. not that that's too hard to fill, I think I should leave it as is.

I'm kinda using the summer box as an unofficial description of some of my summer activities, research, etc... Complete sentences though. I saw an example somewhere online and that was in complete sentences so ... yeah. 480 characters is mad short.

Welcome back, Spartan! You're probably talking about me (exercise girl). We should definitely run/swim/dance together if we get the opportunity to! :)

to devaaki, that is why we thank life for deadlines =). we are forced to stick with our decisions lol... those who are admitted should bring like their favorite foods to admit weekend, then they can identify each other lol.

can anyone tell me how many characters each essay is supposed to be... and what is this about a summer essay? is it an additional essay among the main 4?
