I agree with evil, i remember seeing a score report from my councelor of a past student and there were no ap scores on there, but im not totally sure.

Sorry itida.. I was afraid of that =(

Man.. I want Stanford to see all my scores is the thing. Maybe I'll put it in the additional info (extenuating circumstances) part.

having good AP scores is extenuating ;)

happy diwali everybody!! hope it helps us with our applications. :)

I think we need to send care packages to each other, with fuzzy pillows, warm dumplings, non-fat frozen yogurt, and klondike bars. That'd make us feel better, eh? Gosh... I'm sooo jaded from this application

dude the care package sounds really cool--especially after we start waiting for the results...someone should send it to one person and after that person uses it, refills it and sends it to the next SCEA'er :P

haha i havent started my essays yet.

thank god for arabic holidays which give me Monday, tuesday, and wednesday off next week

Happy Diwali! :D

Something to take my mind off of my string of bad grades...

A care package sounds really nice right now. :)

Haha... if it weren't for the frozen yogurt or klondike bars (or dumplings), i'd consider sending some... :D

Time to buckle down to it and write those essays for reals.

im surprised most of you haven't posted a chance thread yet due to all the anxiety. if you guys are anxious, you should just eat some tiramisu - kills the anxiety on the spot, for me lol, or whatever is your favorite dessert.

Maybe 'cuz Stanford SCEAs are just so cool, they don't need chance threads.

Lol... who am I kidding... :P

Push pops do it for me. Or girl scout cookies.

Choboking--did you look through all of our other posts :) haha well I've been tempted before to post (but not for stanford) but everyone always comments on them saying "no one on CC can tell your chances" so I just forget about it :P

watching a movie usually relaxes me. though it takes a lot of time..2 hours?

lol i have tempted to ask for my chances too haha especially after last year's SCEA decisions, but i remembered reading a post where one guy gave everyone a "no chance." i didn't want to put myself down. you are lucky devaaki! i rarely see any girl scouts lol.

Haha... This thread, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=249755 , convinced me that chances threads are terrible. I mean, all that happens is other people start feeling bad about their own scores...

And I think the rare occurences of Girl Scouts make their cookies so enticing. I remember this one time I just finished running, and some kids across the street were shouting "Cookies! Lemonade!" So I dug up some change outta my car and got me some most delicious lemonade and lemon cookies. Wonderful. And totally off topic, as well.

Um... sleeping works best for me =) I don't need to eat.

On the other hand, do you all plan to ramp up application stuff this weekend? I don't know what to do, since I'm done with all me hw (not that much) and have to wait for my essays to come back from teachers..

really? there are girl scouts at my school (high school)! and there are quite a few so there are always lots to order yummy cookies from =) haha

julyinoh--yeah I do. I plan to crank out ALL my essays Saturday and Sunday so that's why I'm doing all my hw today. I hate going to such a competitive school..they give us too much work =/ ah well!

Does anyone have any idea on how to cut down an essay down from 3200 characters to 1600? I can't seem to let go of my words and hate to cut anything out. :(

EDIT: Are you giving short introductions for the three short essays. The bulk of my essay is my introduction. ~750 characters.

Fuzzylogic: Short introductions? I don't know...I just sorta went directly to the main theme. 1600 is a reaaaallly hard limit to keep to, so it's inevitable that you cut out a lot of well-loved words/sentences/paragraphs. I'd suggest cutting out anything that isn't absolutely necessary for your essay to flow well or retain the depth and meaning of the original, and try getting your essay to about 2000 characters. After that, try replacing your long words with shorter ones, and don't use two words when one will do. That should get your essay to about 1600. Good luck! :)

A question: How do you indicate paragraphs on the online app? By indenting the start of each paragraph, you waste character spaces, but if you don't indicate paragraphs at all, everything will look all smushed up in the PDF format. If anyone has some suggestions or experience with the matter, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! :)

I'm not having a short introduction...there just isn't enough space! I just have a "grabbing" first line and then just go into the essay/theme as ROCKao said.

For the paragraph showing, I think indenting/entering is important enough to "waste" character space. The essay needs to be readable and I'm willing to sacrifice a word or two in order to make that happen.

Haha... Yeah right. I had a pain trying to get one of my essays from 1800 to 1600. I'm finding completely scratching long paragraphs to come up with better ideas is working a lil' better.

And I'm kind of dissapointed with my long essay. Ugh.
