I have a small vase of peonies on my work desk the last two weeks. I cannot tell you how much joy getting that amazing whiff is when I open my office door in the morning and as I sit and work.
Peonies is a favorite scent of mine. Prefer it in the natural form but would also enjoy it as a scented air freshener, reed diffuser (candle maybe, I’m not hugely into candles)
Other scents that make me happy:
Citrus - specifically lemon and orange
Baby powder
Lilac
Coffee
Garlic
I can’t have artificial fragrances or flowers in the house, but I love the smell of my mulled cider; sometimes I make it just for the scent. I also love the scent my cooking with garlic and herbs, especially roasted chicken with Herbs de Provence. I love the smell of our firepit with a good hardwood and the smell of a good marinated steak on the grill, even though I don’t eat it
Love baby powder, @abasket, and always buy baby powder-scented deodorant. We also have citrus trees and jasmine in our yard and love when those flowers bloom. I’ve posted a few times that I still wear Charlie and Sweet Honesty because those scents take DH back to well… (but I like them, too, for the nostalgia).
I think my favorite is the smell of the pines here in Maine. I can’t get enough of that smell and leave all the cabin windows open as often as the weather permits.
I love the smell of whatever it is that some banks use to polish their lobby floors. Lol. I remember going to the bank with my grandma and there was that peculiar smell, not bad, but nor was it offensive. Then I moved to my current home in 2004 and was blown away when I walked into a local bank lobby to use the ATM, and bam, I smelled it. Since then, I’ve smelled in a few other banks.
Ha! Not a snark at all. They pump in various scents depending on where you are staying (Grand Floridian, Riviera, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Beach Club, etc.), most of which are glorious. I have several candles in my house that are poor substitutes.
There are many other specific scents at WDW (e.g., Pirates of the Caribbean water, Rome is burning in Spaceship Earth, etc.). I love all of those too, but those are more acquired tastes for WDW junkies like me.
Not weird. I feel the same way about old waxed gymnasium floors.
This is absolutely true, and I can relate to the power of Coppertone to bring back those wonderful days at the beach with my high school boyfriend. Good times.
I love the smell of pine/evergreen or any woody scent. These scents remind me of all my childhood summers in northern Michigan. My favorite scents are Jo Malone’s Myrrh and Tonka Cologne or Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
Favorite scent of all time mown grass. When I was in 6th grade I had a dear friend who was blind and he asked me to describe colors. Fresh mown grass was how I described green.
Grapefruit and orange blossoms & lavender.
Can’t do powder (talc/baby) of any type, cinnamon or detergent/fabric softener (I cannot go down that row in the grocery store, and I avoid Michaels’ and JoAnne when the cinnamon brooms come out)
