The smell of winter on a loved one’s coat. This scent really blooms when someone comes into a warm house from the cold outside. In order to smell it you have to hug them.

I also love the scent of honeysuckle, babies, puppies, the weird Fritos smell of dog’s paws, the sea, jet fuel on a warm dry night, cedar trees, lemon blossom, rose water.

I hate the smell of whiskey.

Scents are my strongest memory triggers. I have always had a very bad visual memory but my scent memory is strong. Maybe I’m part dog!

Too many! Lemon, grapefruit, lemongrass, sandalwood, cedar, lilacs, juniper, freshly cut grass, Fraser fir, and cardamom immediately come to mind.

Yes! Those and the orange scent that was used in the old Horizons ride at Epcot as well as all of the scents used in Spaceship Earth. Very nostalgic for me.

I love the smell of coffee but I don’t drink it. I think I love it because it’s the smell I woke up to growing up and it reminds me of my parents and a feeling of security.

Also love the smells of ocean air, almond, bread and a real bakery.

Oh yes! That smell is so wonderful many here include creosote plants in their landscaping and will spray them before outdoor parties for everyone to enjoy all evening.

I think old university libraries have a distinct smell. RIP UW chemistry library. So many fond memories of digging through the old dusty reference volumes.

What a fantastic idea, and I love that they are being used in landscaping. A friend who also grew up in AZ brings a branch home, dried, to smell and remind her of the desert.

Thought of this thread yesterday. I’m always so paranoid about getting sick before a trip. Thursday evening we sat on our porch with SIL and I had a minor attack. Paranoid I was sick, I took Benedryl and went to bed early. Woke up perfectly fine, ran and went to work. After lunch my head started stuffing up again. Huh? Then I realized I was sitting 4’ away from my new intern teaching him something. The intern who had just spent 4 hours collecting data in a cemetery. Ahhh… makes sense. I don’t even have to be in grass to have a reaction. Just close to someone who was in it even though I’m always on Zyrtec/Flonase. But some benedryl and an hour later and I was fine again. Grass is just not my friend!

Wow, that’s tough since grass is everywhere!

Yep especially in the south where it lasts from March until November. The world hates me

Wow. H and I are both sensitive to grass pollen, but not to that extent. I’m glad you got relief.

I’ve been reading a bit about grass allergies while planning our new home and it appears that while Bermuda grass (which nearly every builder here uses) is horrible for allergies there are hybrid Bermuda stains that are okay. I intended to request Zoysia before I learned that it’s almost as bad as Bermuda, so we’re trying to get hybrid Bermuda. Now the problem is finding anyone who will deliver and install it.

Despite the adverse reaction, I do still enjoy the scent of a new mown lawn.
