I'm currently in Honors Amer Lit and have to decide between Honors Brit Lit and AP Lang for next year. The majority of students in Honors Amer Lit move up to AP Lang and Honors Brit Lit is more of a "stepping stone" up for students previously in regular English. However, I heard that AP is focused around 3 things that I hate: scored discussions, in-class essays, and multiple choice tests. Would it be worth it to not do AP even if I probably would be able to manage getting a B?

I think it depends on your major and what colleges you are aiming for. If you are interested in the humanities and/or aiming for some top tier schools, I would definitely take AP Lang. In addition, you may be able to get some college credit for it. And a B is AP is certainly not a bad grade…colleges want to see you challenging yourself even if it may mean compromising your GPA in some cases.

is this for senior year?

Thanks for the advice, Gold Owl. I’m looking at good schools, but definitely not top-tier. There is a good chance that I will do something in the humanities, however I am not positive yet.
This would be for junior year, Stellakness. We have an AP Lit option for senior year.
