I'm signed up to take 18 credits this coming semester -
3+1 - Organic Chem & lab
4 - Differential equations
4 - Intro to chemical engineering systems
3 - a humanities class
3 - Linear Algebra

I'll be tutoring ~10 hours a week, and I'm wondering if this will be too much. If I drop something, it would be linear algebra. What would you do?

I would start with the schedule you have, but then drop a class if it becomes too much.

Do any of your desired classes for next (spring) semester have linear algebra as a prerequisite? If not, linear algebra is definitely drop-able. If so, then I would drop the humanities class instead.

I would take only 4 of those (with the hamanities being 1) if I could… Maybe only linear algebra and put off Diff EQs if it can wait and doesn’t get you into a prereq issue

Linear Algebra is not a required course at my university, but diff eq is.

I was planning on minoring in math, but I’m now going to minor in biochem, so I really don’t need the extra course. It’s proof based, too, which is for math majors/minors.

I’m one math class ahead due to ap credits (most take diff eq in the spring). However, I really want to take diff eq with the professor I have.

Singh, I like your recommendation. I will go to the first day of linear algebra, and if it seems manageable, then I’ll stay in it. However, if I don’t like the professor, or if it seems to be a lot of work, then I’ll take the application-based class later.
