-crosses fingers that this is the right place-

I am currently a Sophomore in High School. Our School runs on block scheduling, with three classes a day (six in total). We are a magnet school, split into Academies that take away one of our electives (I'm in Agriscience).

My 10th Grade Schedule is as follows:
AP Psychology
Agriscience Foundations 2 Honors
English 2 Pre-AP Gifted Honors
Chemistry Gifted Honors
German 3 Honors
Algebra 2 Gifted Honors

I was absent the majority of last week, and my grades have dropped in Chem and Algebra 2 to B's since its been hard for me to catch up. However I'm doing relatively better then 85% of my classes. I have my two German Credits from Middle School, and did not take German 3 in 9th Grade because I needed a fine art credit. I made this thread because I'm meeting with my counselor on Friday, and he's new and likes to go through out "Planned Schedule Track" to make sure we have the correct credits for graduation.

For 11th Grade my Plan looks like this:
AP US History
Biotechnology 3 Honors
AP English Language
AP Biology

I've run into a rut with this, because after this year for the State of Florida I have met my Graduation Requirements for Science + Math. I already know I want to take AP Bio, but I've run into a rut with Math and my Elective Class. For Math I could take AP Statistics, or PreCal. If I take PreCal I can still take Stats or AP Cal AB. My School does not offer a Regular or Honors Calculus Class, only the AP. And personally I am in love with Statistics, but Cal I suppose would look better. Any thoughts on this?

Also, I do not wish to continue German after this year because I rather not waste it on a German 4 Class, then AP German Language. Is this a bad idea? Instead in its place I'd like to take AP Computer Science. The only con to that is that the class is literally (100%) male every year its been done. I absolutely love programming and I'm currently learning VBasic and C++. I don't know if I'd be comfortable in the class, and was thinking maybe AP chemistry or AP Geography as a Safety. Can I have some opinions on this? My Counselor is quite a b**** and usually likes me to explain why I'm doing this and that before he lets it pass by him. If it were up to him I'd be taking only 1 AP.

Can't you take stats and precalc during junior year? If you can't, then I think calc would be better if you do well in precalc. If not, then stats is the way to go. I wouldn't suggest taking AP Chem and Bio during the same year, it'd be killer. I don't know much about AP comp science, so I can't help you there.

I completely agree with OMG789 that AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time would be killer. I highly recommend that you think that one through carefully before making a decision.
Personally, I think you should take classes that will be challenging, but still enjoyable. You may want to go ahead with Pre-Cal and then decide which class you should take. If after getting a taste of calculus, you're still more partial to statistics, go for AP Stats. As for Computer Science, if you really like programming, it's probably a good fit.
Good luck!
:)

I think now that pre-calculus would probably be the best choice. However there is still this issue of my elective.
My School offers internships, they take up your elective class period, they're honors, and you get paid. They have a huge list to choose from to apply to. Its also something I'm interested in.
Would an internship look as good as an AP Class? Or would college credit outweigh experience?

I'm in AP Bio and Chem right now, and it's not impossible; in fact, they overlap a lot, which makes things make sense! :] I'm a senior, though. BUTTT I have a few friends that did it last year as juniors and did really well. Sooo don't think it's not... doable... unless the two are reputed as, like, the hardest classes in the school (which Bio is in my school, but not Chem.)

As for math: If you like Stats, take Stats! I think Calculus is great fun, but that's just me. :]

Computer Science is alright... and I totally get what you're saying about the male:female ratio; my friend and I were the only girls in a class of like 20 (AP Comp Sci A and AP Comp Sci AB combined) last year. xP (Well, it was initially 20; ended up at like 13ish due to people's schedule changes.) At my school, it was a total BS class, though -- I dunno how much actual programming you guys do at your school. We called our AB class "AP Flash Games 4."

Really, though, all of this depends on what you really want to take. BUT my one piece of advice is keep in mind that this will be your junior year and you don't need to take everything you really really want to take eventually, 'cause chances are you'll be able to get it in your schedule the next year. For example, I've wanted to take AP Psych since freshman year, but I decided to wait until senior year, and I'm really happy with my schedule this year (as well as how my schedules have been throughout the past four years)!
