So, schedule season's coming around and I was wondering how the following move will look to admissions committees: Dropping my Chinese class due to teacher issues.

My Schedule This Year (10th)
Physics Honors
Chinese 2 Honors
Algebra II Honors
English 2 Honors
Chemistry Honors
Pre-Calculus Honors
AP US History 1
Driver's Ed/P.E.

Next year:
AP Calculus AB
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics
AP Chemistry
English 3 Honors
P.E./ Health
AP US History 2
AP Statistics (or what else should I take, do you reccommend?)

Other info:
I'm first in my class of ~400 students, straight A+s so far. Yet to take any Collegeboard tests(except PSAT); awaiting PSAT score in december. SAT Practice tests averaging 2170-2250, just to give a rough understanding of my ability.

I'll be applying to Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Brown PLMS, some Medical Programs associated with NJMS/UMDNJ, Rutgers University, and TCNJ.

Thanks for all the help, really appreciate it!

^ OK, I’m no math expert (in fact I despise the calculus), but I will say that taking both AB and BC is not really a waste. Kids at my school have had best results taking AB and BC because they have the continued math straight through the year. The main calc teacher at my school recommends taking both for best results on the AP test.

@MITHopeful and BigKev: We’re not allowed to skip AB, so I’m taking AB first semester and BC second semester. AP Physics is B, I think. And yes, the prospective schedule would be for my junior year.

@puggly123: The thing is, My Chinese teacher can’t teach properly, and she gives us a test every friday. So I basically have to teach myself Chinese, and it’s killing my sleep. I generally study 0-30minutes for a science, 0 min for math, 0 for english, and 2-3 for history. Our school is based on semester scheduling, so it’s easier to handle classes, in my opinion. But Chinese is just too much. I don’t think I will be able to maintain my Chinese grade with all of the other AP classes, especially AP History.

@ above posters: Judging from the OP’s schedule, it’s obvious that the school uses block scheduling.

Take AP Chinese by Senior year. The world won’t end if you don’t get an A+ or if you don’t become valedictorian. In my opinion, as long as you can get at least A-, take AP Chinese.
