Schedules?

Have any incoming freshman gotten their fall schedules yet?

@ak9800 I called the general info line for the First Year of Studies earlier this week, as my son had not received his advisor’s name or his fall class schedule yet. The First Year of Studies office was very helpful.

Was told that advisor assignments were still being finalized. Incoming freshmen should expect to hear from their advisors as the student class schedules get worked on over the next 3 weeks or so.

I was unclear as to whether the advisors reach out first, or whether they’ll reach out only when they’ve built the tentative class schedule.

Students can make adjustments to the schedule with their advisor, and then there is also something called “drop-in advising” on the Monday before classes start.

Hopefully this helps in case you were getting concerned that you hadn’t heard yet. Everything seems a little slower than the published dates, but that’s ok.

As I recall, you will get your advisor’s contact info, then your schedule a few weeks later, in early August. Please don’t be alarmed if your schedule for first semester looks very different than what you requested. One of my daughters only got two or three of her class choices, but ended up being able to drop two and change into another section of one. Syllabus week, in addition to being a rather big social week, is precisely when you can “shop” classes.

Last year my daughter filled out the class choice forms, then spoke with her advisor about the various options, then got her schedule. I believe she got an email with her advisor’s contact info and she contacted him to set up an appointment to speak. She also didn’t get everything she wanted when she first got her schedule, but was able to add/drop into a schedule she liked better once she was at school.
